LONDON — The pursuit of a second consecutive South Central Ohio League title continues to draw closer for the McClain Tigers after a 5-2 win over the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles Tuesday at Madison-Plains High School.

McClain led the entire game, as they took a halftime lead of 3-1.

"Defensively, we played pretty even with Madison-Plains," MHS coach Shawn Jackson said. "It was a balanced game, but we played a little sluggish. But we got the win, and that is the important thing."

Scoring goals in the first half were Daniel White and Sam Henry. White put the goal into the net twice in the first half.

In the second half, McClain outscored the Golden Eagles, 2-1.

Scoring two goals in the second half for MHS was Luis Rivas. Rivas had four assists.

Ryan Case had one save at goal as the starting keeper for the Tigers. Scott Balzer had two saves at goal.

The win gives MHS an SCOL record of 5-0-1 and an overall mark of 5-2-1.

MHS will face the Adena Warriors in a non-league game, its third non-league game of the season, on Thursday at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
