Sen. Husted introduces resolution recognizing interscholastic athletic administrators

WASHINGTON – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) introduced a resolution to support the designation of Sept. 8-14 as Interscholastic Athletic Administrators’ Week.

An interscholastic athletic administrator is a school employee who provides leadership for school sports and athletic programs. They manage the daily operations and make sure that the programs support the schools’ missions.

“As a former student-athlete, I understand firsthand the impact sports can have on a young person’s life. My coaches, teachers and administrators helped shape the person I am today. I’m proud to lead this resolution to honor the dedication of interscholastic athletic administrators and the life-changing impact they have on student athletes across Ohio and our nation,” said Husted.

“We deeply appreciate Senator Jon Husted (R-OH) for leading this resolution recognizing the thousands of interscholastic athletic administrators working for our students. Interscholastic athletic administrators, often working behind the scenes, play an important role in our Nation’s educational system and the social, physical, and educational development of our next generation. The job is very demanding, requiring a huge commitment from our athletic administrators and their families,” said Phil Rison, Executive Director of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.

When young people play sports, they build confidence and self-esteem, perform better in school and often develop leadership skills.

More than 8 million student-athletes in the U.S. rely on interscholastic athletic administrators for mentorship.

The resolution:

• Recognizes September 8 through September 14, 2025, as “Interscholastic Administrators’ Week.”

• Commends interscholastic athletic administrators for their commitment to and their leadership of student athletes in high school.

• Recognizes the critical role school athletic programs play in making students better leaders.

• Commends the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association as the leading organization that prepares the men and women who lead high school sports throughout the country by providing continuous learning and compassion.
