Paints’ Will Rettig named Prospect League Pitcher of the Week

The Prospect League is proud to announce the Players of the Week for week six of the 2024 season from July 2 to July 8.

The Week 6 ArmCare.com Pitcher of the Week is Will Rettig from the Chillicothe Paints and Denison University.

In 2 games and 7.0 innings pitched this past week, Rettig recorded a 0.00 ERA with no runs, three hits, two walks, 10 strikeouts and a 2-0 win-loss record.

Rettig, of Perrysburg, pitched in 14 games this past spring for Denison, working 75.1 innings on the mound with a 9-1 record, 66 strikeouts and a 3.23 ERA.

The Week 6 Hitter of the Week is Merik Carter from the Jackson Rockabillys and Garner-Webb University.

In five games and 17 at-bats this past week, Carter hit .471 with eight hits, six runs scored, one double, two triples, two home runs and six runs batted in. He also grabbed a league-leading 19 total bases and put up a 1.727 on-base + slugging percentage.

Carter hit .413 in 44 games this spring for Alabama Huntsville with 64 hits, 48 runs and 42 RBIs.

The Prospect League is a premier Midwestern wood-bat collegiate summer baseball league with 18 teams across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Pennsylvania.
