Paints’ Alex Bemis named Prospect League Hitter of the Week

Alex Bemis of the Chillicothe Paints has been named the Prospect League Hitter of the Week for the second week of the season.

In six games and 27 at-bats this past week, Bemis hit .370 with 10 hits, eight runs scored, one double, three home runs and 18 runs batted in. He also grabbed 20 total bases and put up a 1.120 on-base + slugging percentage.

Bemis, of Monroe, Ohio, hit .293 in 45 games this spring for Gannon University with 43 hits, 25 runs and 18 RBIs.

Bemis stood out among several viable options from the Paints including Cole Raile, who hit .600 for the week with seven RBIs, while Felix Polanco went .563 with nine driven in, Ty Hatfield hit .545 with seven RBIs and Trevor Coltenback hit .467 with six runs driven in.

During the six games in the week, the Paints went 5-1, hitting .387 as a team, scoring 77 runs on 82 hits, collecting 11 doubles, one triple and seven home runs.
