SARDINIA — The Lynchburg-Clay boys soccer team stayed undefeated Monday against Eastern Brown but didn't add to their overall win total. Both the Mustangs and Warriors put up a total effort, but in the end, they played equally, finishing with a 2-2 tied score at EBHS.
The intensity of the game was high in the non-league match, but it was the Mustangs who finished the first half with a one-goal lead at 2-1.
Though they led by the one score after 40 minutes, the Warriors scored first with a quick goal by Landon Hauke, as the ball bounced over the head of the keeper with 38:20 left in the first 40 minutes of play.
Michael Smith, a LC junior forward, tied the game at 1-1 off a cross kick (and assist) from junior Tyler Davidson.
Davidson put the Mustangs in the lead kicking a goal with 9:17 remaining left in the first half, off a pass from Smith, as he returned the favor from the previous goal for the assist.
The game's final goal came with 18:39 with Hauke netting his second goal, with a shot from the keeper's hand.
Chase Edminsten had eight saves for Eastern Brown.
"We had several opportunities but did not finish," LC coach Dennis West said. "Our defense played very well for the entire 80 minutes."
LC now is 3-0-1 overall, with a 1-0 Southern Hills League mark.
