Musketeers win in OT; Jackson nets 10 points

CINCINNATI — The Xavier Musketeers survived another close game in the early start of the season, this time defeating IFPW, 76-66, in overtime Tuesday night at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati.
Last Friday, XU defeated Western Michigan, 68-65, in the 2010-11 season opener.
On Tuesday, McClain graduate (XU senior) Danté Jackson finished with 10 points, making two 3-pointers and going 4-of-9 from the floor. Jackson had three rebounds, one assist, one steal and two personal fouls.
One of Jackson's 3-pointers came in the OT period. He played 42 minutes.
XU (2-0) finished 25-of-60 from the field (41.7 percent). They were 3-of-14 from beyond the arc and 23-of-34 (67.6 percent) at the free-throw line.
Tu Holloway led the Musketeers with 24 points. He was 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. He also had nine rebounds, four assists and two steals in 42 minutes.
All five Musketeers starters finished with double-digit scoring efforts. Mark Lyons, Jeff Robinson and Jamel McLean had 11 points each.
XU out-rebounded IPFW, 43-33. Zach Plackemeier led IPFW with 15 points. IPFW shot 38.3 percent from the field, making 10-of-25 in 3-point shots.
The Musketeers will face Iowa on Friday, Nov. 19 in the 2010 Paradise Jam at the U.S. Virgin Islands at 8:30 p.m.
