McClain boys golf improves to 14-0

GREENFIELD — The McClain Tigers continue to add to their early season victory total, winning two more events in their second week of play. The defending South Central Ohio League champions defeated Miami Trace and Madison-Plains to stand at 14-0 overall this season.
Their first win in week two came on Aug. 17 against the MT Panthers at Buckeye Hills on a par 36.
J.T. Bunner contined his successful season with a par score of 36 as the Tigers won the event 154-164.
Tanner Vanzant finished with a score of 37, followed by MHS teammate Jacob Branham at 39. Other MHS scores included: Caleb Cockerill (42), Dustin Taylor (50) and Adam Sharp (45).
Miami Trace scores were as follows: Brandon Wallace (40), Taylor Bruney (41), Josh Anderson (41), Jaron Brust (43), Tanner Higgins (42) and Daniel Stanton (53).
The following day (Aug. 18), the Tigers traveled to Madison County to face the the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles at Locust Hills, a par 36 event.
MHS dominated the Golden Eagles to win their second nine-hole event against MP this season, 155-168.
Bunner had the low score of 34 (two-under-par) for the Tigers, followed by Branham at 36 at par.
Vanzant finished with a score of 41, and fellow MHS Tiger Cockerill scored a 52. Sharp tallied a total of 44, and Taylor finished at 54.
Madison-Plains had scores of 37, 42, 45, 44, 52 and 49.
MHS has an SCOL record of 3-0 and a non-league mark of 11-0 to stand at 14-0 this season.
