The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, announced — for the second year in a row — play-by-play broadcaster Jacob Wise has been named 2024 Prospect League Broadcaster of the Year by a league-wide vote.

"It's an honor to be recognized by the other teams around the league," said Wise. "It's so much fun bringing the on-field action to fans and parents who can't attend and for the fans who listen while at the ballpark as well."

"Jacob Wise is a very valuable member of the Chillicothe Paints Baseball Club," said team president Bryan Wickline. "His talent and passion shines through on the radio and PLTV every night to our loyal fans. Jacob's professionalism and preparation is unmatched in our eyes."

Wise became the lead voice of the Paints in 2016, describing the on-field action via the team's flagship radio station 100.9 WXIZ-FM with simulcast streaming on ChillicothePaints.com.

The Ashville, Ohio native has had the opportunity to call three of Chillicothe's league-record four championship wins, with the club winning it all in 2019, 2022 and 2023. During the recently-completed 2024 season, the Paints amassed the best record in the league and won a league-record seventh division title.

"The people involved in the Paints have really become a second family for me," added Wise. "It's a pleasure to go to the ballpark every day throughout the season and document the hard work of our players, coaches and staff for our incredible fans."

Wise is a veteran broadcaster, particularly within the league, calling his 700th Prospect League game this past season.

"We're one of the few Prospect League teams left that broadcast all away games as well as all the home games on the radio and online," added Wickline. "We're only able to accomplish that goal with the dedication of Jacob going solo every night on the air and his willingness to travel thousands of miles throughout the summer with our players and coaches on a bus. Jacob's dedication and diverse talents allow us to promote the Paints and VA Memorial Stadium in ways we wouldn't otherwise be able to achieve."

"I couldn't do it without the support of my wife and family," Wise said. "It's a lot of time away from them in the summer and they all pull together to support me in this."

Wise's internship with the Paints during the 2009 season calling games on the radio as the number two voice for home games gave him his start with Chillicothe and the Prospect League. He was then the lead voice for the Slippery Rock Sliders for the 2010 and 2011 seasons before spending two seasons in the Frontier League.

Wise returned to the Prospect League in 2014 with the inaugural season of the Champion City Kings, where he stayed for the 2015 season before returning to Chillicothe full-time the following summer.
