Jackson, Musketeers open preseason; defeat NKU

CINCINNATI — Former McClain standout Dante' Jackson and the Xavier Musketeers opened the 2010-11 preseason with a 73-62 win, Tuesday against Northern Kentucky at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati.
Jackson, a senior, scored eight points, making two 3-pointers and two free throws. He had three assists, four rebounds (one offensive), three assists and one steal in 30 minutes.
Kenny Frease led XU with 17 points, followed by Mark Lyons with 13. Jamel McLean had 12 points.
XU led 40-32 at the half. The Musketeers shot 27-of-56 from the field (48.2 percent). From the free-throw line XU was 13-of-19, along with 40 total rebounds (13 offensive).
The final preseason game for XU will be Saturday, Nov. 6 vs. Bellarmine at 7:30 p.m. in Cincinnati.
