Hillsboro Christian Academy Lady Crusaders compete in River City Classic

RIPLEY — The Hillsboro Christian Academy Lady Crusaders took part in the 2023 River City Classic hosted by Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington High School on Dec. 27 and 28. The Lady Crusaders finished last in the competition, finishing 0-2 as they played the Bethel-Tate Lady Tigers and the Robertson County (Ky.) Lady Devils.

The Lady Crusaders lost to the Lady Tigers in the first round of the tournament by a final score of 47-12. In the consolation game in the second round of the tournament, the Lady Crusaders lost to the Lady Devils by a score of 69-25.

Leading scorers for the Lady Crusaders in the tournament were Emma Korte and Annie Henderson, each with 12 points, and Kari Flowers with six points. Also scoring in the tournament were Lisa VanZant with four points and Zayla Bourne with three points.

Krysta Hamm for the Robertson County Lady Devils scored her 1,500th career point in the third quarter against the Lady Crusaders.

The Lady Crusaders now have a record of 6-5, with four of the five losses coming in tournament play. The Lady Crusaders’ next game will be against Fayette Christian School at FCS on Jan. 4.
