Hal McCoy: One of the best

There is a chill in the air this week with the fall season in full force.
As the temperature continues to drop and winter nears it is a sign that, for one, the MLB regular season is over, and with that one great baseball writing career as a beat writer is over.
Dayton Daily News Cincinnati Reds beat writer Hal McCoy covered his last Reds game for that paper one Sunday ago, and in my opinion, reading about the Reds will never be the same.
Even though I¹ve never met Hal McCoy, I feel like I¹ve known him for years.
In the world of sports writers Hal McCoy is one of my idols. He is one of the reasons I decided sports writing would be my choice of a career. Well that and I like telling stories, and going to games for free doesn¹t hurt.
The Reds aren¹t my favorite team, but I do listen and watch their games on a regular basis. As we all know they haven¹t had a winning season in the past nine years, and reading the game stories by McCoy brought the games to life, even more so than watching the games live.
His blog about the last time he would ever write at Wrigley Field was a classic in itself, as it brought out the true passion of the game of baseball, making everyone realize that sports can and are an important part of life.
McCoy did leave all his readers a glimmer of hope in his Sunday blog saying he isn¹t done just yet, but did go on to say his time as a traveling beat writer are indeed over.
Either way it won't be the same reading Reds game stories that aren¹t written by the Hall of Famer, Hal McCoy.

Congratulations are in order to the McClain Lady Tiger soccer team. In less than one week they gained their first South Central Ohio League victory as they defeated London, and on Tuesday they gained their first home win at McClain Field with a 1-0 victory over the Washington Lady Blue Lions.
It goes to show, again, how hard work and dedication can help achieve goals. If I remember correctly, winning at home this season, for the first time, was a big goal of the Lady Tigers at the start of the season.

Lastly, this week I attended the ³Volley for the Cure² game at Lynchburg-Clay High School, and I want to congratulate all involved on a great event. Proceeds raised at the event (over $2,300) will go to the Susan G. Komen, For the Cure Fund, as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I know other schools have held the event as well and to all I say great job.

Reds ball game vs.Toronto Sunday
I have been a reds fan for many years but I have to say that Bell made me as angry today as any time I can remember..The decision to leave Hunter Greene in. for 9 runs in 4 innings leaves me speechlessThe wonderful reds players that are busting their butts to make the playoffs deserve More than that..I am absolutely flabbergasted at this man and his often times poor handling of his pitchers. The players on this team deserve better!
