GMS falls in tri-match at EC

On Dec. 30, the Greenfield Middle School wrestling team competed in a tri-match against Western Brown and host East Clinton.
With three wrestlers out of the lineup for various reasons, the Tigers only had six wrestlers, forfeiting nine weight classes.
The Tigers were "beaten at the scales," as the forfeited weight classes made it impossible to win either of the two dual matches.
The best they could hope for was to compete well with the grapplers they had.
Compete well they did, as two wrestlers, namely Jake Badgley (104) and Jimmy Unger (128) went 2-0 on the day.
The other four GMS wrestlers, Ethan Paul (116), Thomas Blevins (122), Lucas Unger (134), and Brendan Goble (172) all went 1-1 on the day.
GMS started out by wrestling Western Brown. The Broncos defeated the Tigers 54-21.
Lastly, they competed against the home Astros. The Astros prevailed 39-24.
The two losses dropped the GMS season record below the .500 mark to 5-6.
The Tigers will compete next in an SCOL tri-match against London and host Miami Trace on January 5th at 6:00. The varsity and jv will also be competing this night.[[In-content Ad]]
