FC Cincinnati’s Roman Celentano wins 2023 MLS Save of the Year Presented by Allstate
Major League Soccer Thursday announced that FC Cincinnati’s Roman Celentanohas claimed the 2023 MLS Save of the Year presented by Allstate for his last-minute save in FC Cincinnati’s victory over the Columbus Crew on May 20 (Watch Here).
Well into added time and with the Crew looking to equalize from a set piece, Celentano produced a win-preserving save against his club’s biggest rivals on the night.
As former Crew midfielder Lucas Zelarayán whipped in the free kick, Crew defender Steven Moreira leaped to meet the cross off a header that seemed destined for the back of the net. Celentano, though, flew across his goal line and denied the effort from leveling the match by punching the ball over the net.
The MLS Save of the Year presented by Allstate, an award established in 2009, is determined by fan votes on MLSsoccer.com.
