5 WC softball players earn CSC Academic All-District honors
The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their 2025 Academic All-District Softball teams Tuesday afternoon, and Wilmington College had five athletes represented, which is the most you can have recognized from a single school.
The five athletes honored were sophomores Belle Baughman and Jocelyn Franz along with seniors Rachel Berry, Makenzie O’Neil, and Judaea Wilson. Franz and Wilson were also selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists, which will be announced on June 17th.
This is the second time being honored for Berry and Wilson and the first time for Baughman, Franz and O’Neil.
Berry is an Exercise Science-Allied Health major who played in 34 games for the Quakers and started 33 of them. Wilson is an Education-Primary Ed Intervention Specialist major who started all 35 games for the Quakers this season.
Baughman is a Business Administration-Finance major who appeared in 17 games in the circle for the Quakers, made 15 starts and pitched 75 innings. Franz is a Sport Management major who started all 35 games for the Quakers. O’Neil is a Business Administration-Marketing & Sport Management major who started 15 games in the circle for Wilmington and pitched 69.1 innings.
To be considered, you must be a sophomore or higher both academically and athletically and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Athletically, you must have done one of the following: competed in at least 90 percent of your team’s games, started at least 66 percent of your team’s games, made at least 17 appearances in the circle, or pitched 35 innings in the circle.
