10 players from OSU Buckeyes football program graduate
Ten Ohio State Buckeye football players received degrees or certificates last Sunday during The Ohio State University commencement ceremonies at Ohio Stadium. The players were among 203 Ohio State student-athletes to graduate and among more than 12,000 graduates campus-wide.
Starting defensive tackle Ty Hamilton, from Pickerington, Ohio, headlines the contingent. Hamilton has played in 41 games the past four seasons, has started 12 times and is coming off a 38-tackle season in 2023 with 4.5 of those stops tackles-for-loss. He graduated with his degree in family resource management.
Xavier Johnson, from Cincinnati and who will be in training camp with the Buffalo Bills this spring/summer, graduated with his master's degree in translational data analytics after previously receiving his bachelor's degree in consumer and family financial services.
Pat Gurd, who will be a key performer at tight end this season for the Buckeyes, graduated with his degree in health sciences with plans on becoming a physician's assistant with a focus on pediatrics. Gurd, from New Albany, has played in 17 games so far including 10 of 13 games last season.
Two more current Buckeyes also received their degrees today: quarterback Chad Ray, who is from Dublin, Ohio, graduated with a degree in health sciences, and long snapper Max Lomonico, from Pickerington, graduated with his degree in human development and family services.
Also graduating today: OL Quinton Burke, from Lancaster, Ohio (zoology), TE Sam Hart, from Cincinnati (logistics management), K Parker Lewis, from Phoenix, Ariz. (human development and family services), SAF Cam Martinez, from Muskegon, Mich. (human development and family services), and SAF Andrew Moore, from Cleveland (family resource management).
