Wildcats topple Blue Jays

The Whiteoak Wildcats celebrated their three seniors on Friday as they won in Southern Hills Athletic Conference play by a 15-2 score over the visiting Ripley Blue Jays at WHS. 

Seniors for the Wildcats are Jacen Applegate, Zander Roades, and Wyatt Ruark. 

In the SHAC win Whiteoak totaled five hits and Ripley finished with two. The Wildcats also forced 13 walks. 

Whiteoak scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added two runs in the second for a lead of 8-0. Ripley scored two runs in the top of the fourth, but WHS answered with a seven-run bottom of the fourth inning for their final total of 15 runs. 

Jacob Kiley finished with a multi-hit game at 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI with one of his hits being a double. Kiley also had one steal. 

Caden Butler finished 1-for-2 with a run, one RBI, two hit by pitches, and three steals. Izayah Clift was 1-for-2 with one run, two RBI, a double, two walks, and three steals. 

Christian Hite was 1-for-1 with two runs, one RBI, a double, three walks, and four steals. 

The Wildcats also had Applegate score two runs, walk once, have one HBP, and one steal. Abraham Flander finished with a run, one RBI, two walks, and two steals. 

Jonah Michael totaled two runs, one RBI, two walks, one HBP, and a steal. Roades scored two runs, plus added two walks, one HBP, and a steal. Ruark finished with a run, one walk, and one HBP. 

Applegate was the winning pitcher, finishing with five innings pitched, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks with 12 strikeouts. 

WHS now stands at 9-7 overall and 6-5 in the SHAC Div. II standings.
