Whiteoak takes home 1-point win against Georgetown

The Whiteoak Wildcats took home a one-point victory on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 17) at the Coach Young Classic at North Adams High School, defeating the Georgetown G-Men 48-47, snapping a three-game losing streak.
Whiteoak took a two-point lead after the first quarter at 12-10, and then after winning the second frame at 16-12, the Wildcats led at halftime by a 28-22 score.
Georgetown won the third frame at 15-12, and they also won the fourth quarter at 10-8, but it was Whiteoak still keeping the lead by one point when the final buzzer sounded Saturday afternoon at NAHS.
Whiteoak was led in the scoring column by Sawyer Blair with 13 points by making two 3-pointers, one two-point basket, and he was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Blair added four rebounds to his final totals.
Brady Brandenburg ended with 12 points with five two-pointers and he also was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. Brandenburg also totaled five rebounds and two assists.
Christopher Wessner ended his day with eight points, one rebound, one assist and two steals. Evan Richmond totaled seven points (two two-pointers, one 3-pointer), two rebounds and one assist.
Lucas Pollard totaled four points (two baskets), five rebounds, one assist and two steals. Carson Hart finished the win with two points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal. Jason Gaskins ended with two points, three rebounds and two assists.
The Wildcats finished with team totals that included 15 two-point baskets, three 3-pointers and they were 9-of-13 from the free-throw line. They also totaled 24 rebounds (nine offensive), nine assists and five steals.
The win moves Whiteoak to 6-7 overall and 2-6 in the SHAC Div. II standings.
Next for WHS is an away game at East Clinton High School against the East Clinton Astros in a non-conference game.
