Whiteoak softball opens season with non-conference loss at New Boston
The 2026 Whiteoak Lady Wildcats’ season began Thursday evening, where they lost on the road against the host Glenwood New Boston Lady Tigers by a 12-5 score.
The non-conference game saw the Lady Wildcats trail 2-0 after the first inning, followed by a 3-0 deficit after two innings as New Boston added one run in the bottom half of the second.
New Boston took a 6-0 lead when they had a three-run bottom of the third inning. Whiteoak scored their first runs with a three-run fourth, but the bottom of the inning saw the Lady Tigers add two runs.
WHS scored two more runs in the top of the fifth, but the Lady Tigers added to their lead with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Whiteoak finished the game with six hits and four errors, and New Boston had 11 hits and no errors.
Jenna Canada went 3-for-4 with two runs and three steals.
Kyra Boyd was 2-for-4 with a double, one run, a steal and one RBI. Madison Davidson was 1-for-1 with three walks, two runs, two steals and one RBI.
Kiley Mitchell forced one walk and two steals, while Jada Combs also forced a walk and had one steal.
Boyd was charged with the pitching loss, pitching five innings and having seven strikeouts. Davidson pitched one inning with two strikeouts.
WHS now is 0-1 on the season. Next for WHS is a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game on Tuesday, March 31 on the road at North Adams High School at 5 p.m.
