Whiteoak softball falls in postseason; finishes regular-season schedule

This past week, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost their Division VII first-round game on Wednesday, followed by regular-season losses against North Adams and Eastern on Thursday and Friday. 

On Wednesday (May 14), WHS lost in their postseason first-round game by a 12-2 score. 

WHS finished the game with five hits and two errors, as five players each finished with a hit. 

Oakley Engle was 1-for-3 with a run, as her hit was a double. Kylee Hamm went 1-for-3, and teammate Lily Leston was 1-for-3 with two RBI as her hit was a double. 

Elly McMullen ended the game at 1-for-3, and Kiley Mitchell was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk. Kylee Ruark finished with one run and was hit by a pitch. 

Following their postseason game, WHS had two Southern Hills Athletic Conference games to play, where on Thursday (May 15) they lost to North Adams by an 11-1 score in five innings at WHS. 

WHS ended the SHAC game with five hits and three errors. North Adams had eight hits and no errors. 

North Adams scored a run in the top of the first, followed by one run in the third, five runs in the fourth and three final runs in the top of the fifth inning. WHS scored their run in the bottom of the third inning. 

Oakley Engle finished 1-for-2, while Kylee Hamm went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Charli Hauke was 1-for-2, and teammate Lily Leston finished 1-for-2. Kiley Mitchell finished 1-for-1 with a run, as her hit was a double. Kylee Ruark ended the day at 1-for-2. 

On Friday (May 16), WHS hosted the Eastern Lady Warriors in their regular-season finale, falling by a 12-2 score in seven innings. 

WHS totaled five hits and had two errors, while Eastern finished with 17 hits and two errors. 

Eastern scored four runs in the top of the first, followed by two runs in the top of the third, one run in the fourth and one run in the fifth. Eastern added two runs in the sixth inning and two final runs in the top of the seventh. 

WHS scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Whiteoak ends the season at 2-16 overall.
