Whiteoak Lady ’Cats gain road wins at Ripley, Bethel-Tate

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats are now 5-0 in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference and have seven overall wins after road victories at Ripley on Friday and Bethel-Tate on Saturday. 

On Friday (Dec. 16), the Lady ’Cats edged out the host Lady Blue Jays by a 49-46 score, fending off a hard-charging RHS squad in the fourth quarter. 

WHS led 12-10 after the first quarter, and following a 16-10 second frame that went to the Lady ’Cats, it was Whiteoak leading Ripley, 28-20. 

WHS won the third frame at 9-8 for a 37-28 lead after three quarter, but RHS made things interesting with an 18-point fourth quarter, while WHS scored 12 points. 

Kylee Hamm and Jaylie Parr each led WHS with 13 points, as Hamm made three two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and was 1-of-4 from the free-throw line. She also added 11 rebounds for a double-double, plus collected four steals. 

Parr made two two-point baskets and three 3-pointers, and her other totals included two rebounds and three assists.

Lydia Carr finished with seven points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in the win. 

Addison Roberts totaled five points for WHS, along with four rebounds, two assists and one steal. 

There was also Molly McMullen with six points, three assists and two steals. Teammate Bri Hill totaled five points and five rebounds and two steals. 

As a team, the Lady ’Cats shot 30-percent from the field, with a 4-of-10 performance from the free-throw line. They totaled nine 3-pointers as a team (Parr 3, Hamm 2, McMullen 2, Roberts 1, Hill 1). 

Other team totals for WHS included 35 rebounds, 15 assists, 11 steals and they committed 18 turnovers. 

Ripley committed 19 turnovers and were led in scoring by Brooklyn Manning with 13 points.

On Monday, Dec. 18, the Lady ’Cats earned a non-conference at Bethel-Tate by a 38-29 score. 

In that win, WHS led 10-9 after the first quarter, then doubled up BTHS in the second frame at 12-6 for a halftime lead of 22-15. 

WHS led the third at 6-5 for a lead of 28-20, and in the fourth quarter the Lady ’Cats outscored Bethel-Tate at 10-9. 

Whiteoak was led in the scoring column by Parr with 13 points, followed by Hamm with 10 points. 

Parr collected three two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and was 4-of-10 from the free-throw line. 

Hamm finished with five two-point baskets for her 10 points and had a double-double with 10 rebounds, as she also added two assists and five steals.

Other WHS scoring included: Torie Potts (six), Addison Roberts (two), Bri Hill (two), Molly McMullen (two), Madison Thompson (two) and Keira Campbell (one).

Team totals for WHS included 36 rebounds, seven assists, 14 steals and two blocks.
