Lady Wildcats earn 2 wins in past 3 games

For the first time this season, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats gained a victory on the softball diamond Tuesday evening, as they won at home against the Ripley Lady Blue Jays, 10-0 in five innings. 

Each team ended the game with six hits, and RHS had one error. 

The Lady ’Cats started the game with a run in the bottom of the first, then added three runs in the second for a 4-0 lead. WHS added two runs in the fourth and ended the game with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. 

Kylee Ruark was 3-for-3 with two runs and three steals. 

Jenna Canada was 2-for-3 in the win with one run, a double and a steal. 

Kyra Boyd finished 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, a walk and four steals. 

Kiley Mitchell totaled one walk, a run and two steals. Madison Davidson collected a run, a steal and was hit by a pitch. Matti Conrad scored three runs, walked three times and had two steals. Jada Combs walked once. McKinley Mootz collected an RBI. 

Boyd was the winning pitcher with five innings in the circle with no earned runs on six hits and three walks with eight strikeouts.

Thursday the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost a SHAC game to the host Peebles Lady Indians, 15-0 in five innings. 

WHS finished with one hit and two errors, while PHS had 15 hits and no errors. 

Peebles scored one run in the bottom of the first, then added 11 runs in the bottom of the second. Peebles scored three runs in the fourth inning for their final three runs of the game.

Whiteoak’s lone hit was by Jenna Canada, who was 1-for-2.

Friday was another winning day for the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats with WHS winning via a walk-off in extra innings for a 13-12 win at Whiteoak High School against West Union. 

WHS trailed 12-11 headed to the bottom of the eighth inning of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference game, but the Lady ’Cats weren't finished as Ivy Garrison singled to centerfield to knock in Kyra Boyd and Matti Conrad for the game-winning runs. 

Scoring began strong for the two teams with WUHS leading 3-2 after the first inning. 

Whiteoak took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second, then added another run in the bottom of the third for a 5-3 lead. 

That lead increased to 8-3 with a three-run fourth inning. WUHS battled back with three runs in the top of the fifth, then they added another three runs in the top of the sixth. WHS answered with one run in the bottom of the sixth for a 9-9 score. 

The score was tied again at 11-11 following each team scoring two runs in the seventh inning. WUHS took a one-run lead in the top of the eighth, but then came the two runs batted in by Garrison for the walk-off win. 

Whiteoak ended the contest with 18 hits and one error, while WUHS had 17 hits and no errors. 

SIx Whiteoak players had multi-hit games with Kyra Boyd going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, two doubles and a home run. 

Chanel Captain was 3-for-5 with two runs, a home run, two RBI and a steal. 

Kylee Ruark was 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI and a steal. 

Matti Conrad was 2-for-4 with a run, a double, one RBI and a walk. Kiley Mitchell finished 2-for-4 with a run. Madison Davidson was 2-for-3, scoring a run, collecting one RBI and two steals. 

Garrison was 1-for-3 with two RBI, two walks and a steal. Jada Combs finished 1-for-3 with two runs, a steal and she was hit by a pitch. 

Boyd was the winning pitcher with eight innings in the circle with eight strikeouts. 

WHS is now 2-7 overall and 2-6 in the SHAC.
