Lady ‘Cats fall in SHAC action against West Union

Hosting the West Union Lady Dragons on Saturday (Feb. 14) the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game to the visitors 57-43. 

The loss for Whiteoak began with them being tied 5-5 after the first quarter with the Lady Dragons. West Union then outscored WHS 13-9 in the second for a 18-14 halftime score with WUHS leading. 

In the third frame, the Lady Dragons won the quarter scoring battle at 19-15, and they also won the fourth-quarter scoring at 20-14. 

Libby Webster led Whiteoak with 15 points, making four two-point buckets and she was 7-of-9 from the free-throw line. Webster added 16 rebounds (five offensive) and six blocks. 

Ella Howard finished with nine points from making a 3-pointer and going 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. Howard added seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. 

Jillian Lucas totaled six points off two two-pointers, and she was 2-of-3 from the free-throw line. She added four rebounds, one assist and one steal to her final totals. 

Miley Walker ended the game with five points with a 3-pointer and two-point field goal and collected four rebounds, one assist and one steal. 

Also with five points was Taelyn Shriver as she sank a 3-pointer and was 2-of-2 in her free-throw attempts. She also finished the game with three rebounds, one steal and one block. 

Aveah Captain had three points for Whiteoak with a 3-pointer. Captain also had one rebound and one assist. Jada Combs finished with one rebound. 

Whiteoak’s totals as a team included seven two-point baskets, four 3-pointers, and they were 17-of-22 from the free-throw line. They also had 36 rebounds (10 offensive), five assists, eight steals and seven blocks. 

West Union leading scorers were Anabelle McIntosh (17 points), Jocelyn Hall (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Violet Randolph (12 points, nine rebounds). 

WUHS totaled 11 two-point baskets, nine 3-pointers (Randolph 4, McIntosh 3, Kaydence Cook 2), 50 rebounds (23 offensive), 11 assists, nine steals and five blocks. 

Whiteoak now has an overall record of 8-13 with a SHAC mark of 5-8. After the win, West Union stands at 11-10 overall and 6-7 in the SHAC.
