Lady Mustangs drop SHAC games to Manchester and North Adams

In a big-time Southern Hills Athletic Conference battle on Wednesday (May 7), the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost to the visiting Manchester Lady Greyhounds by a 4-3 score at LCHS.
The Lady Mustangs were first to strike with two runs in the bottom of the third inning, but Manchester responded with one run in the top of the fourth inning, then they added two runs in the top of the fifth for a 3-2 lead.
Manchester added a run in the top of the seventh inning, and LCHS battled back, as they also scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it wasn’t enough, falling by one run.
The Lady Greyhounds totaled eight hits and committed one error, while LCHS had five hits and one error.
Three of LC’s five hits were off the bat of Kami Collins, as she was 3-for-4 with a double. Sophia Michael also had a double, finishing 1-for-3 with a walk. Aubrey Roberts also had a hit for Lynchburg-Clay, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk.
Audrey Barry totaled three walks and scored one run, while Caitlyn Collins scored two runs, had one steal and walked twice. Lily Ferguson forced one walk.
Noel Barnhill had the loss in the circle, pitching seven innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.

On Saturday, Lynchburg-Clay suffered another one-run loss in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action by falling to the host North Adams Lady Green Devils, 5-4.
North Adams won in walk-off fashion, scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
LCHS led 2-0 after scoring two runs in the top of the second, but North Adams took a 4-2 lead with four runs crossing the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning. LCHS tied the score at 4-4 with a two-run top of the seventh but were unable to keep the lead as the Lady Green Devils scored the aforementioned one run in the bottom of the seventh with one out.
Each team collected nine hits and LCHS committed two errors, while North Adams committed one error.
Aubrey Roberts was the leading batter for Lynchburg-Clay by going 3-for-4 with one run. Sophia Michael was next at 2-for-4 with one run.
Audrey Barry finished 1-for-4 with one run, and Reese Ruble went 1-for-4 with a run. Noel Barnhill at the plate was 1-for-4, and Jazmine Brown ended the day at 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Sadie Kuipers forced a walk for the Lady Mustangs.
Barnhill pitched six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Roberts pitched 0.1 inning, allowing three earned runs on three hits, and she had one strikeout.
LCHS now stands at 14-5 overall, and in the SHAC Division I standings they are 9-3. In second place is Eastern at 7-3. LCHS has one SHAC game remaining on their schedule (vs. Eastern on May 14), while EHS has three SHAC games left (at Whiteoak, at LCHS, at West Union).
