2 Lynchburg-Clay runners race at Div. III State Cross-Country Championships

Saturday, Nov. 1 was the final event for the Highland County athletic schedule for the fall sports season, as two runners from Lynchburg-Clay High School raced at the 2025 OHSAA State Cross-Country Championships at Fortress Obetz.
LCHS senior Kyler Fite and sophomore Tavion Huguely raced on Saturday afternoon, returning to the venue they raced at a year ago at the state championships, as each runner was making their second appearance at the state event.
Fite and Huguely finished one spot from each other in the final standings at the Division III race with Fite ending his LCHS career in 86th place with a time of 16:52.54, while Huguely was 87th place with a time of 16:53.62.
In the state race, Fite — the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Runner of the Year — at 400m was at 1:17.91, followed at 1600m at 5:05.20, then at the 3200m mark his time was 10:35.70, and then the finish time of 16:52.54.
Huguely in his state run, started with a 400m time of 1:18.11, followed with his 1600m time at 5:05.41. At the 3200m mark of the race, Huguely’s time was 10:35.79, and then at the finish his time was 16:53.62.
There were a total of 215 runners who finished the Division III race, with the individual state champion being Brice Fuller of Fairless High School with a first-place time of 14:52.76. The state runner-up was Nathaniel Gockerman of Cincinnati Christian Academy with a time of 15:16.06.
The Division III state champion team was Woodridge with a score of 65, followed by the state runner-up being West Liberty-Salem with a score of 162.
Also this season, Fite won the SHAC boys championship with a time of 16:14.2. Huguely was the SHAC runner-up with a time of 16:15.8 this season.
This season at districts, Fite was third place overall with a time of 16:25.23, and Huguely was seventh place at 16:49.47.
Last weekend at the Division III Regional Championships, Fite was 19th place overall in the Division III, Region 10 race at Pickerington North High School, collecting a final time of 16:26.56. Also at regionals last weekend, Huguely finished in 22nd place at 16:28.29.
