Lady Indians fall to Jackson

On Saturday (Jan. 13), the Hillsboro Lady Indians lost on the road to the host Jackson Ironladies, 55-31 in Frontier Athletic Conference action. 

The game was closely played on the first quarter with Hillsboro trailing by only a single point at 9-8, but JHS scored 19 points in the second frame, while HHS added 10 points to their overall total, leaving Jackson in front, 28-18. 

The second half was controlled by the host Ironladies, with JHS scoring 12 points in the third and 15 points in the fourth quarter. 

In the second half, HHS totaled 13 points with a three-point third frame and 10 points scored in the fourth quarter. 

Peighton Bledsoe led the Lady Indians with 10 points off five made baskets, while Kobie Miles followed with seven points as she made a 3-pointer and two two-point field goals. 

Rylie Scott totaled five points as she made two baskets (including a 3-pointer), and Blake Herdman also scored five points with two baskets and a made free throw. Tylee Davis finished the scoring for Hillsboro with two points. 

In all, HHS totaled 11 two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and they were 1-of-2 from the free-throw line. 

For Jackson, they were led in scoring by TJ Carpenter with 18 points and Mattie Walburn with 10 points. 

Jackson totaled 19 two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and they were 11-of-15 from the free-throw line. 

The win moves Jackson to 6-0 in the FAC (first place), while HHS is 3-4 in FAC action (tied for third place).
