Indians narrowly lose to Western Brown

Traveling to Brown County on Tuesday evening, the Hillsboro Indians narrowly lost to the host Western Brown Broncos, falling by a score of 75-73.
The loss at WBHS saw the Indians trail by six points at the end of the first quarter at 19-13 as the Indians had six points in the opening frame from Tate Davis, as he made a 3-pointer, a two-point basket and a free throw.
Also in the game played at Western Brown High School, the Indians had a 3-pointer from Brayden Hunter, a two-pointer by Dylan Dixon and two free throws made by Jack Howland.
The Indians scored 19 points in the second quarter, while the Broncos scored 16 points, leaving the halftime score of 35-32 in favor of the Broncos.
HHS in the second frame had eight points scored by Tre Captain off four made two-point baskets, while Davis made a 3-pointer and Howland scored four points with a two-pointer and two free throws. Also in the second, Brady Juillerat made two baskets for four points.
The Indians’ third quarter saw them add 16 points to their overall total, and the Broncos scored 22 points, putting Western Brown ahead by a score of 57-48 after three frames.
Hillsboro in the third had four points from Davis, two points scored by Hunter, five points by Dixon and Howland scored five points.
In the final quarter, the Indians scored 25 points, but Western Brown added 18 points to keep the two-point win over Hillsboro.
The fourth-frame scoring for HHS included 11 points by Davis, who made three 3-pointers in the frame, four points from Hunter, two points by Captain and eight points from Howland, as he made two 3-pointers in the quarter.
HHS was led by Davis with 24 points, with the senior finishing with three two-pointers, five 3-pointers, and he was 3-of-3 from the free-throw line.
Howland totaled 19 points, with three two-point baskets, three 3-pointers, and he was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Captain totaled 10 points for the Indians with four baskets, and he was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. He also had a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Hunter finished with nine points, as he totaled two two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and he also finished 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Dixon ended the game with seven points, finishing with three two-point baskets and he was also 1-of-1 in his free-throw attempts.
Finishing with four points was Juillerat with two baskets.
The Indians as a team totaled 17 two-point baskets, nine 3-pointers and they were a perfect 12-of-12 from the free-throw line. HHS also finished with 30 rebounds.
Western Brown was led by Conner Gulley with 29 points, ending the game with 12 two-point baskets, a 3-pointer and he was 2-of-2 in his free throw attempts.
Jet Jamison totaled 18 points for the Broncos, followed by William Stewart with 11 points. The rest of the WBHS scoring included Brayden Dill with eight points, Brayden Harmon with six points and Tyler Hitt with three points.
The Broncos collected 25 rebounds in their win.
Western Brown now stand at 3-8 overall. The Indians’ overall record now sits at 5-5.
