Indians earn big conference win over Cavaliers
The Hillsboro Indians gained an important Frontier Athletic Conference win Monday night at Richard Shaffer Park, winning by an 8-1 score over the Chillicothe Cavaliers.
Hillsboro took control of the game at the beginning, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning, and they added to their lead with a run in the third for a 7-0 advantage. Chillicothe’s lone run crossed home plate in the top of the fifth, and HHS answered that run with one final run in the bottom of the sixth.
HHS finished the game with six hits and two errors. The Cavaliers had three hits and eight errors.
Travis Ross finished Monday’s conference game with a 2-for-4 performance with a double, one run, one RBI and a steal. Will Hart was 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Ovid Wilson was 1-for-4 with a run and one RBI. Evan Fender finished 1-for-3 with two runs and had an RBI. Walker Pence finished 1-for-3 with one RBI and a steal.
Korbin Adams scored a run and had a steal, and Ashton Clemons scored a run and forced a walk. Braydon Hunter scored a run, walked once and had a steal. Bryce Parsons scored a run, had an RBI and was hit by a pitch.
Garet Thompson pitched seven innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits and no walks. He struck out five strikeouts, throwing 84 pitches, 58 for strikes and he faced 26 batters.
HHS now stands at 3-12 overall this season.
