HILLSBORO — The first half wasn’t one the Hillsboro Indians wanted to remember, but the second half was one where they battled back from a three-goal deficit to force a final score of a 4-4 tie against the Chillicothe Cavaliers.
The Indians didn’t gain the win, but they avoided a loss in the Frontier Athletic Conference on Tuesday (Sept. 23), as they trailed by a 4-1 score at halftime but came back in the final 40-minute period with not only three goals scored, but they kept the Cavaliers off the scoreboard in that same second half.
Hillsboro’s first goal was scored by senior Mathias Hostetler on a kick from around mid-field.
The second half saw the Indians have goals from senior Ryan Howland, junior Grant Shepherd and senior Cameron Burkard.
Freshman Owen Davis finished with three saves for the Indians. Assists for Hillsboro were made by Howland, senior Cooper Swope and Burkard.
The tie sends Hillsboro to an overall record of 3-6-2 with an FAC record of 2-2-2.
Next for the Indians is a non-conference match on Monday, Sept. 29 at home vs. the Piketon Redstreaks at 6:45 p.m.
