Hillsboro wins at Miami Trace
The Hillsboro Lady Indians continued to gain wins this week, as their most recent game on Wednesday (Jan. 17) saw them travel to Fayette County and earn a Frontier Athletic Conference win over the Miami Trace Lady Panthers, 56-46.
Hillsboro’s 10-point win included them winning twice in three days, as earlier in the week they defeated the Fairfield Lady Lions in a non-conference game.
As for the win on Wednesday, the Lady Indians led 15-9 in the first quarter, and after another quarter of play — where HHS outscored Miami Trace, 17-9 — the Lady Indians held a halftime lead of 42-18.
Each team scored 14 points in the third quarter, and in the fourth MTHS added another 14 points, while Hillsboro scored 10 points in the final eight minutes.
Kobie Miles led the way for HHS with 13 points, and Peighton Bledsoe was next with 11 points.
Rylie Scott and Tylee Davis both collected nine points. There was also Kyra Boyd scoring eight points, Blake Herdman with four points and Addyson Miles totaling two points.
The Lady Indians made four 3-pointers off shots by Scott, Bledsoe, Boyd and Herdman.
HHS went 18-of-24 from the free-throw line.
The win improves HHS to 8-6 overall, and they are 4-4 in the FAC standings. MTHS falls to 5-10 overall and 2-6 in the FAC.
Next for the Lady Indians is a game on Monday, Jan. 22 at home vs. Peebles in non-conference action.
