No winning streak lasts forever, and it was time for the Hillsboro Lady Indians’ Frontier Athletic Conference 50-game winning streak to come to an end on Monday evening at Hillsboro High School.
Hillsboro, going for their 51st consecutive FAC win — a streak that started during the 2021 season — was defeated by the visiting Jackson Ironladies, 12-3.
Rebuilding their lineup after losing most of their starters from their 2025 state runner-up season — and from a lineup that was a big part of five consecutive FAC championships with the 50-game winning streak — the Lady Indians on Monday were tied with Jackson 1-1 after the first inning.
From there, the Ironladies scored three runs in the top of the second, and five runs in the top of the third for a 9-2 lead as HHS added a run in the bottom of the third inning.
In the top of the fifth, JHS scored two more runs, while HHS scored their third run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. In the top of the seventh inning, the Ironladies scored one final run.
Hillsboro and Jackson each had six hits in the game, but for Hillsboro their defense was where the issues arose, as they committed nine errors in the loss, while Jackson had one error.
Three of Hillsboro’s six hits were off the bat of freshman Peyton Spurlock, who was 3-for-3 with two RBI and a walk. Spurlock was charged with the loss in the circle but only allowed one earned run. In seven innings, she allowed six hits and had six walks, with four strikeouts.
Sophomore Emory Zornes was 2-for-4 with one RBI with one of her hits being a double. Sophomore Addley Miller was 1-for-3 with two runs, one double and a walk. Sophomore Harper Conrad drew a walk.
HHS senior Chloe Roberts scored one run and walked once. Also with a walk was junior Paisley Zink.
The loss sends HHS to an 0-3 overall record and 0-1 mark in the FAC standings. HHS is scheduled to play next Tuesday, March 24 at home against the Greeneview Lady Rams at 5 p.m.
