Hillsboro Indians win via run-rule at Chillicothe

An eight-run inning catapulted the Hillsboro Indians to a Frontier Athletic Conference win Monday evening, as they traveled to Ross County and defeated the Chillicothe Cavaliers, 17-7 in five innings.
The win by Hillsboro saw HHS and CHS combine for seven runs in the first inning with the host Cavaliers leading 4-3.
HHS responded with one run in the top of the second, and then came a five-run third and the aforementioned eight runs in the top of the fourth inning for a 17-4 lead.
CHS scored three final runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it wasn’t enough, as the Indians gained the run-rule with a 10-run lead after five complete innings.
The Indians collected 14 hits in the FAC contest and committed two errors, while the Cavs had nine hits and committed three errors.
Three Hillsboro batters each had three hits against the Cavaliers with lead-off batter Walker Pence going 3-for-4 with three runs, one RBI, a walk and two steals.
Jack Cornele was also 3-for-4 (including a triple), scoring three runs, collecting three RBI, a walk and a steal.
Zack Brown went 3-for-4 (including a triple) with two runs, two RBI and a steal.
Mason Dumpert was 2-for-4 as he collected two runs, two RBI and a steal.
Nate Lane was 1-for-3 with a run, two RBI and a steal. Teammate Brody Kelch finished 1-for-3 with two runs, one RBI, a walk and he also had a steal. Von Steward was 1-for-3 with two runs, one RBI and he too grabbed a steal in the FAC win.
Luke Holland scored a run, collected two RBI and he also added two walks. Brady Juillerat scored one run for the Indians.
Juillerat was also the winning pitcher, going five innings on the mound with four strikeouts.
Hillsboro now has an overall record of 4-5 on the season with a FAC record of 1-2.
