Mustangs win SHAC tri-match; follow with 4-team match win
On Monday (Aug. 26), the Lynchburg-Clay boys golf team won a Southern Hills Athletic Conference tri-match by defeating Whiteoak and Fairfield at the Hillsboro Elks Golf Course.
The Mustangs finished with a score of 164 against their Highland County counterparts, followed by Fairfield scoring a 191 and Whiteoak ending the day with a score of 203.
The leading scorer for the Mustangs was match medalist Aiden Bene, finishing with a score of 38.
Next was Nolan Wilkin carding a 40, and Saxen Wilkin scored a 42. Jackson West finished at 44, Kristian Beachy had a score of 49 and Christian Flowers finished the match at 52.
The following day, the Mustangs won a non-conference quad-match against West Union, McClain and Hillsboro.
Lynchburg-Clay won with a team score of 158, followed by West Union at 183, McClain at 193 and Hillsboro with a score of 198.
Leading the charge:
Saxen Wilkin was match medalist with a score of 37. Aiden Bene and Nolan Wilkin each scored a 39, while Jackson West ended the match with a 43 score. Kristian Beachy finished with a score of 45, and Braedon West finished with a score of 47.
Scores for Hillsboro included: Conner Kelch (39), Logan Zurface (52), Logan Barton (53), Kenny Shawhan (55), Jay Reno (60) and Jordan Davis (66).
Following Tuesday's quad-match win, the Mustangs were averaging 165.38 strokes per match, while their closest competitor was averaging 184 09 strokes per match.
