Girls Basketball Report: Hillsboro, Whiteoak earn wins; Lynchburg-Clay falls in SHAC contest

Hillsboro gains 17th win of season
For the 17th time during the 2024-25 season, the Hillsboro Lady Indians earned a victory, and the most recent one saw them defeat the Wilmington Lady Hurricane by a 63-37 score at WHS, Monday night.
The non-conference road game saw Hillsboro improve to 17-3 overall with two regular-season games remaining on the schedule.
Hillsboro trailed after the first quarter by a 15-12 score, but rallied in the second frame with a 16-11 effort, resulting in the Lady Indians leading 28-26 at halftime.
The Lady Indians scored 12 points in the third, and their defense held Wilmington scoreless, building a 14-point lead for a 40-26 score after three frames.
HHS in the fourth quarter added 23 points, while Wilmington scored 11 points, securing the 26-point victory.
Hillsboro was led in scoring by Kyra Boyd with 14 points, finishing the game with four two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and she was 3-of-3 from the free-throw line.
Annia Young finished with 10 points, totaling five two-point baskets. Peighton Bledsoe and Ella Jordan each scored nine points, with Bledsoe making a 3-pointer, a two-pointer and she went 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Jordan made three two-point baskets and was 3-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Tylee Davis ended the game with eight points, making a 3-pointer, two two-point baskets, and she went 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.
HHS also had three points from Kayla Seeling off a 3-pointer, and Kobie Miles scored four points with a basket and two made free throws on two attempts.
Dinah Ames scored two points with a two-point basket. Riley Pence also scored two points with a basket, and Taylor-Ann Scruggs finished with two points as she was 2-of-2 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, scoring the first varsity points of their careers.
HHS totaled 18 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers, and they were 15-of-21 in their free-throw attempts.
Wilmington was led in scoring by Elle Martin with 13 points.
Team totals for the Lady ‘Cane included eight two-point baskets, four 3-pointers, and they went 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Whiteoak wins by 21 points at Clermont Northeastern
The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats added another non-conference win to their overall total of victories on Monday night, defeating the host Clermont Northeastern Lady Rockets 54-33 at CNE High School.
WHS held an eight-point lead after the first quarter at 15-7, then the Lady ‘Cats scored 19 points in the second, while holding CNE to eight points in the same quarter for a 34-15 halftime advantage.
The second half saw CNE take the third quarter at 9-7, and the fourth quarter included Whiteoak scoring 13 points and CNE adding nine points to their final total.
Whiteoak’s Addison Roberts finished with a team-high 17 points, making three two-pointers, three 3-pointers and she was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Charli Hauke followed with 12 points, making three two-point baskets and two 3-pointers.
Jillian Lucas totaled nine points in the win with four two-point field goals, and she was 1-of-1 from the free-throw line.
Addy Hauke also totaled nine points, making three two-point field goals and a 3-pointer.
Torie Potts scored seven points for Whiteoak, making a two-point bucket and she was 5-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Whiteoak finished with 14 two-point baskets, six 3-pointers, and from the free-throw line they were 8-of-13.
CNE was led in scoring by Julia Best with 12 points and Jenna Brown with 11 points.
The win lifts Whiteoak’s overall record to 13-4.

Lynchburg-Clay falls to first-place North Adams
Monday evening the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs suffered a Southern Hills Athletic Conference loss to the host North Adams Lady Green Devils by a 51-37 score at North Adams High School.
The loss to the first-place Lady Green Devils moved North Adams to an overall record of 16-4, along with a SHAC Division I record of 11-1 as they have clinched the Div. I conference championship this season.
LCHS trailed by a 9-5 score after the first quarter was finished, and following a 17-9 second frame in favor the Lady Green Devils, it was the home team leading LCHS, 26-14 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Lynchburg-Clay scored 10 points, while North Adams was one point better with 11. The final quarter consisted of NAHS being one point better again, this time outscoring Lynchburg-Clay 14-13 for their 14-point win over LCHS.
The Lady Mustangs’ scoring consisted of Madison McMullen leading the way with 12 points, followed by Joslyn Rockey with eight points, and scoring seven points was Lily Ferguson.
LCHS also had six points scored by Adilyn Carraher, and Allie Waits finished with four points.
The loss sends the Lady Mustangs’ overall record to 7-14, while their Division I SHAC mark is 4-8.
