McClain hosts 2024 Adam Sharp Invitational

The McClain golf program hosted the 2024 Adam Sharp McClain Invitational on Thursday (Aug. 1) at the Buckeye Hills Country Club, as the Westfall Mustangs won the boys and girls events.

For the girls, Westfall won with a score of 151, followed by Zane Trace as the runners-up with a score of 183. Clinton-Massie was third (188), followed in fourth place by Jackson (190) and fifth place was Circleville (197).

The rest of the girls scoring included: 6, McClain (202), 7, Miami Trace (205), 8, Chillicothe (212 - tiebreaker), 9, Goshen (212), 10, Logan Elm (213) and 11, Wilmington (236).

The girls match medalist was Westfall senior Paige Weiss with a score of 30 on a par 35.

For McClain, their low score was a 10th-place (tie) finish by Kaylin Sterling at 46. MHS sophomore Hailey Cornett was tied for 18th place with a score of 50. In 24th place was MHS junior Reese Roble (52), followed by senior Abbie Lovett tied for 33rd place (54), and junior Avery Murphy was 42nd (59).

The boys event saw Westfall win via tiebreaker with a 157 score, followed by Chillicothe in second place at 157. Third place went to Jackson (171), in fourth was McClain (172), and the fifth-place spot went to Hillsboro on a tiebreaker (179).

The rest of the boys scoring included: 6, Washington (179), 7, Miami Trace (191), 8, Wilmington (195) and 9, Goshen (207).

The boys match medalist was Westfall sophomore Colton Brungarth with a score of 36).

McClain freshman Connor Chandler placed fifth overall (three-way tie) with a score of 40. In eighth place was McClain junior Carson Chandler at 41.

Other MHS scores included: 21, sophomore Carter Nelson (45 - 7-way tie), 28, senior Zane Adams (46) and 44, senior Jeremy Webb (63).

Hillsboro’s low score went to junior Walker Pence (44) for 20th place, followed by senior Logan Zurface, sophomore Conner Kelch and sophomore Logan Barton each scoring a 45, tied for 21st place (7-way tie). HHS senior Tate Davis was 28th overall with a 46 score.
