McClain, Hillsboro girls golf compete in FAC No. 3 and No. 4 matches

The Frontier Athletic Conference held its third and fourth matches for the 2024 girls golf season this week, as both McClain and Hillsboro competed in the conference events.

In the third FAC match of the season — held at Franklin Valley Golf Course — it was Jackson winning with a score of 191, followed by McClain in second place at 223. In third place was Miami Trace at 229 taking the spot via tiebreaker. In fourth place was HHS with a 229 score, followed by Chillicothe (234). Washington didn’t have a full team, but had a score of 186.

The match medalist for the FAC No. 3 event was Jackson’s Aubrey Arnold with a score of 43.

McClain was led by Kaylin Sterling in third place overall with a 48 score. Other scores for McClain were Abbie Lovett (57), Kallie Posey (58), Hailey Cornett (60), Reese Roble (63) and Avery Murphy (64).

The Lady Indians were led by Emma Yochum with a score of 54. HHS also had scoring from Blake Herdman (57), Rylea Scarberry (59), Halle Jones (59), Addy Knauff (63) and Amani Cumberland (66).

In Chillicothe on Thursday, Aug. 15, the fourth FAC girls golf match took place with Jackson winning with a score of 191, followed by Miami Trace in second place at 222. In third was Chillicothe with a team score of 228, and they were followed by McClain (232), Washington (245),and Hillsboro (247).

Jackson’s Aubrey Arnold won the event, earning match medalist with a score of 35.

McClain’s Kaylin Sterling placed third with a score of 46, and next for the Lady Tigers was Abbie Lovett with a score of 58. MHS also had the following individual scores: Abbie Lovett (58), Emma Marsh (64), Sarah Kegley (64), Reese Roble (66) and Hailey Cornett (66).

Hillsboro’s top golfer was Emma Yochum at 59. The remaining scoring for the Lady Indians included: Amani Cumberland (63), Rylea Scarberry (63), Halle Jones (64) and Reagan Leeth (69).
