Lady Indians volleyball earns wins over McClain and Jackson

Facing two Frontier Athletic Conference opponents in a three-day span, the Hillsboro Lady Indians earned two wins by defeating the McClain Lady Tigers on Monday and the Jackson Ironladies on Thursday, with both matches being played at Hillsboro High School. 

On Tuesday (Sept. 22), the Lady Indians defeated the visiting McClain Lady Tigers in three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-05. 

HHS finished the FAC match with 27 kills, 26 assists, 14 aces, 51 digs and three blocks. McClain totaled eight kills, eight assists, six aces, 61 digs and five blocks. 

The Lady Indians had 11 kills from senior Tylee Davis, along with one assist, three aces and 13 digs. Sophomore Macy Fauber ended with nine digs and one ace. 

Senior Marianne Mycroft had two kills in the win, while also adding one dig. Junior Riley Pence ended the match with two kills, one ace and two digs. HHS senior Scarlett Perkins totaled three kills, two digs and two blocks. 

The Lady Indians also had senior Josie Rhoades have one assist, three aces and three digs. Senior Ryan Wagoner collected seven kills for Hillsboro, while adding four aces and 15 digs. Sophomore Emmalee Young finished the FAC contest with two kills, two aces, 24 assists, six digs and a block. 

McClain (0-5, 1-11) had junior Brooklyn Bolender have one kill and five digs. The Lady Tigers also had sophomore Brylee Douglas end the match with one kill and one dig. Sophomore Allie Havens totaled two kills, one assist and four digs. Junior Alaya Jackson collected one kill, 12 digs and four blocks. 

MHS also saw sophomore Brynlee Karnes finish the FAC match with three kills, one assist, 10 digs and a block. Senior Molly McCune had six assists and four digs. MHS junior Adalynn Snyder served four aces, plus she collected 10 digs. Junior Kambriah Tomlin finished the match with two digs. Senior teammate Shelby Wise had two aces and 12 digs. 

On Thursday (Sept. 24) the Hillsboro Lady Indians won an FAC match against Jackson in three consecutive sets at HHS. 

Hillsboro won the sets by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-16. 

HHS had senior Paisley Zink total three aces, two digs and two blocks in the victory. Young totaled three aces, 26 assists, two aces, three digs and two blocks. Wagonor finished the match with seven kills, one assist, three aces and four digs. 

Hillsboro also had Rhoades finish with two aces and three digs. Perkins had three kills, two assists, one ace, one dig and four blocks. Teammate Pence finished with five kills, one dig and four blocks. 

The Lady Indians also saw Mycroft total three kills, and a block. Fauber ended with four aces and 10 digs. Davis totaled 11 kills, four aces, 17 digs and two blocks. 

Hillsboro’s team totals were 32 kills, 29 assists, 19 aces, 41 digs and 15 blocks. Jackson (2-4, 5-8) totaled 14 kills, 13 assists, three aces, 42 digs and one block. 

The wins improve Hillsboro to 12-3 overall and 4-2 in the FAC.
