Indians win 2025 boys FAC Track and Field championship

For a second consecutive year, the Hillsboro boys track and field team are champions of the Frontier Athletic Conference.

Following a two-day event held in Chillicothe at Herrnstein Field, the Indians boys team finished in first place in the six-team event. Hillsboro’s boys teams in the 4x100-meter and 4x200m relay races set new school records, as they were runner-up finishes in the FAC event. The 4x100 team includes Jaishon Captain, Michael Burns, Austin Bledsoe and Foster Britton, while the 4x200 team is Captain, Britton, Bledsoe and Cooper Swope.

HHS also had the 4x800m and 4x400m relay teams gain first-place finishes. The 4x800m team consists of Easton Inman, Chris Sowders, Corbin Winkle and Tate Davis.

The HHS 4x400m team consists of Davis, Kameron Evers, Swope and Sowders.

In the boys events, the Indians not only had the aforementioned first-and-second place finishes, they also had runner-up finishes in the following events: 

Cooper Swope, 400m dash, 50.81
Tate Davis, 800m run, 2:01.66
Corbin Winkle, 1600m run, 4:29.97; 3200m run, 10:12.18
Collin Swackhamer, 110m hurdles, 15.67
Kameron Evans, 300m hurdles, 41.60
Dylan Dixon, high jump, 6-0
Austin Bledsoe, pole vault, 12-6
Griffin Hawk, 140-11.

For the Hillsboro girls, they were third place overall in the FAC event, finishing with two first-place finishes. The girls 4x200m relay team won with a time of 1:48.19 (a new FAC meet record) as the team consists of Olivia Covault, Kobie Miles, Chanel Captain and Meredith Dietrick.

Amani Cumberland was first place in the discus event with a throw of 103-2. 

HHS girls runner-up finishes included: 

Olivia Covault, 200m dash, 27.16
Kobie Miles, 100m hurdles, 15.90; 300m hurdles, 47.87 (a new school record)
4x100m relay (Kailyn Jones, Chanel Captain, Kobie Miles and Meredith Dietrick), 52.31

The McClain girls placed fourth place overall as a team, where Brenna Wright was first place in the 100m hurdles race with a time of 15.78. She was also first in the 300m hurdles event at 46.00, a new school record. 

McClain’s 4x100m relay team was first at 51.26, a new meet record, with the team consisting of Katie Cook, Becca Bergstrom, Mylie Lovett and Brenna Wright. 

Mylie Lovett won the high jump event at 5-2, while Becca Bergstrom placed first in pole vault at 10-1 for a new FAC meet record.

The lone runner-up finish for the MHS girls was Leah Lovett in shot put at 33-04.  

The McClain boys team also competed in the event, finishing in sixth place.
