Indians 5th, Tigers 6th in first 2 FAC boys golf events of ‘26

The Hillsboro Indians and McClain Tigers boys golf teams competed in the Frontier Athletic Conference No. 1 and No. 2 events held at The Greens in Washington Court House, as the Miami Trace Panthers and Washington Blue Lions hosted the two events. 

Both FAC matches were held on Monday, Aug. 10, and the FAC No. 1 event was hosted by Miami Trace. The Panthers won the first conference event of the boys season with a score of 161. In second place was Jackson at 166, and Washington was third place with a score of 170. 

Chillicothe finished in fourth place with a score of 171, followed by Hillsboro in fifth place at 180 points, and McClain was sixth place with a score of 196. 

Winning the FAC No. 1 event was Miami Trace sophomore Aiden Loyd with a score of 37 in the nine-hole event. 

Hillsboro scores in the FAC No. 1 match included senior Conner Kelch (44), sophomore Hunter Seeling (45), senior Logan Barton (45), senior Charlie Starks (46), junior Brody Kelch (48) and sophomore Kyle Thoroman (48). 

McClain junior Connor Chandler finished with a score of 39 for the FAC No. 1 match, while the rest of the Tigers had the following scores: junior Zander Lyons (49), junior Matthew Cummins (54), junior Rilan Ballein (54), freshman Haydn Faulconer (59) and sophomore Braydon Weinrich (62). 

In the FAC No. 2 match at The Greens — hosted by the Washington Blue Lions — Jackson won the event with a score of 151, followed by Chillicothe in second place at 164. The third-place team was Miami Trace at 169, followed by Washington in fourth place at 171 as they used their fifth score to snap a tiebreaker with HHS. The Indians were fifth place at 171, and in sixth place was McClain with a score of 180. 

The Jackson duo of Dalton Knight and Parker Holsteion winning match co-medalist honors with scores of 37 for the event. 

Hillsboro scores in the FAC No. 2 match included senior Charlie Starks (40), senior Conner Kelch (41), sophomore Hunter Seeling (44), senior Logan Barton (46), junior Brody Kelch (46) and sophomore Kyle Thoroman (46). 

McClain junior Connor Chandler again finished with a score of 39 for the FAC No. 2 match, while the rest of the Tigers had the following scores: junior Zander Lyons (44), junior Matthew Cummins (47), freshman Haydn Faulconer (50), junior Rilan Ballein (52) and sophomore Braydon Weinrich (80).
