Tigers fall to Circleville 

The McClain Tigers boys soccer team hosted the Circleville Tigers on Monday, Sept. 8 at McClain Field in Greenfield, where the home team MHS Tigers lost the non-conference game by a 7-1 score. 

At the half, McClain trailed by a 3-0 score. 

The loss sent McClain to an overall record of 3-4-0 thus far this season.

Lady Tigers gain non-conference victory 

On Monday (Sept. 8), the McClain Lady Tigers defeated the Circleville Lady Tigers by a 5-1 score for a home non-conference victory at McClain Field. 

The win was McClain’s seventh consecutive victory of the season, giving them an overall record of 7-1. 

At halftime, MHS led by a 4-0 score. 

MHS keeper Leah Lovett ended the match with four saves, and goals for McClain were scored by Paisley Pryor with the hat trick as she scored three. Larah Henson and Aubrianna Scott each scored one goal.
 
Assists were earned by Lydia Mootispaw, Becca Bergstrom and Pryor.

McClain Lady Tigers fall to WBHS

Monday saw the McClain Lady Tigers volleyball team take the court for a non-conference home match against the Western Brown Lady Broncos where WBHS won the contest in three straight sets at McClain Gym. 

WBHS won by scores of 25-13, 25-7 and 25-16. 

In the match, the Lady Tigers totaled nine kills as a team with Lydia Beatty and Alaya Jackson each having three. Also with kills were Brynlee Karnes with two and Anzli Beatty with one. 

MHS also totaled two aces against WBHS and those were from Brooklyn Bolender and Jackson with one each.

The digs leader for MHS was Lillie Saunders with 10, followed by Jackson with seven, and with three each were Zoie Everhart and Shelby Wise. Having one dig each were Karnes, Bolender, Kambriah Tomlin and Molly McCune. 

McCune was the assists leader with six, and with one each were Lydia Beatty and Jackson. 

Wise totaled 17 service receptions for McClain, and also on that list were Saunders (15), Everhart (11), Bolender (five), Jackson (four), Tomlin (three), Lydia Beatty (three) and Karnes (two). 

The loss moves MHS to an overall record of 3-8.

Fairfield falls to Greeneview 

Returning to the soccer field after a weeklong break, the Fairfield Lions lost their non-conference home game Tuesday evening against the Greeneview Rams by a 7-0 score. 

The shutout loss by the young Lions moves them to an overall record of 0-6-0 this season.

Lady Indians rebound with 10-goal win over Washington 

One night following a tough 2-1 loss against Eastern, the Hillsboro Lady Indians dusted themselves off, got back up and defended their home field on Tuesday evening by defeating the visiting Washington Lady Blue Lions by a 10-0 score. 

The win in the Frontier Athletic Conference was the first FAC win of the season for HHS. 

HHS senior Kobie Miles totaled six goals in the win over Washington, while totaling one goal each were Kamryn Asbury, Arianna Evans, Ella Jordan and Piper Wilkin. 

At goal for Hillsboro in the shutout was Phoebe Holland. 

The Lady Indians are now 3-0-0 in the FAC and 5-2-0 overall.
