Tigers lose home game to Unioto

On Saturday, Jan. 10 at McClain Gym in Greenfield, the McClain Tigers fell in a non-conference game to the visiting Unioto Shermans 62-34. 

Unioto had first-half scoring which included 23 points in the first quarter, followed by an 11-point second quarter. The Tigers had six points in the first and nine points in the second quarter. 

At halftime, the Tanks led the Tigers 34-15. 

In the second half, Unioto added 11 points in the third quarter and 17 points in the fourth frame. McClain scored seven points in the third and followed with 12 points in the fourth quarter. 

McClain was led in scoring by Jordan Bell with nine points as he made two 3-pointers, a two-point baskets and one free throw (1-of-2). 

Hudson Lovett finished with six points by making three two-point baskets. 

Connor Chandler totaled five points with a 3-pointer and one two-point basket. Scoring four points off two baskets was Kolton Lamb. 

Rilan Ballein scored three points (a 3-pointer), and also with three points was Julien Evans (a 3-pointer). 

Matthew Cummins finished with two points (one two-point basket), and Leland Bond also scored two points (2-of-2 from the free-throw line). 

The Tigers totaled eight two-pointers, five 3-pointers, and they were 3-of-5 from the free-throw line. 

Unioto was led by Isaac Coy with 17 points as he made five 3-pointers and one two-point basket. 

Jack Welch finished with 15 points of five 3-pointers. Also for UHS, Blake Fitch scored 11 points. 

Other scoring for Unioto included Jaxon Zickafoose with eight points, Dawson Mitchell with eight points and Cam Shackleford scored three points. 

Unioto’s team totals were 10 two-point baskets, 13 3-pointers, and they were 3-of-6 from the free-throw line. 

McClain currently has an overall record of 5-7 and 0-5 in the FAC, as they lost to HHS on Friday, Jan. 16.

Next for MHS is a FAC game on Tuesday, Jan. 20 on the road against the Chillicothe Cavaliers at CHS.
