After coming off a record-setting 17-0 victory over Piketon last Friday night, the McClain varsity girls soccer team remained unbeaten and not scored on to begin the season by defeating visiting Logan Elm 9-0 Monday night in Greenfield.
Sophomore Paisley Pryor led the McClain scoring attack with four goals, all of which came in the opening half of play when the Lady Tigers held a 5-0 advantage. Junior Addison Olaker scored the other goal for McClain in the first half.
In the second half the Lady Tigers continued to play well, both offensively and defensively. MHS added four more goals, including three by Olaker, giving her four in the game, and one by Larah Henson.
McClain now has scored an amazing 26 goals in two games and have held two opponents scoreless, which is an impressive feat to say the least.
“This was an excellent team win for us,” McClain head coach Blain Bergstrom said after the game. “We had several girls tonight have excellent assists in those scoring opportunities for us.
“I thought our defense played very well again with another shutout, and our girls are continuing to improve and move the ball well as a team.”
The Lady Tigers, now 2-0 on the season, travel to Zane Trace on Thursday night for a non-conference game and a 7 p.m. start, then return home to host Peebles Saturday in a 4 p.m. afternoon game on McClain Field.
