14 runs send McClain Lady Tigers to win over Washington

The McClain Lady Tigers defended their home softball diamond Monday evening in Frontier Athletic Conference play, defeating the visiting Washington Lady Blue Lions, 14-9.
McClain not only scored 14 runs, but they had 17 hits, 13 RBI, six extra-base hits (including two home runs) and six steals.
McClain took an early three-run lead with a three-run first inning, and after each team scored a run in the second, the score was 4-1 with McClain in the lead.
The Lady Tigers expanded their lead with five runs in the bottom of the third for a 9-1 lead. Washington answered with three runs in the top of the fourth, but MHS gained a 10-4 lead after one run crossed the plate in the bottom of the fifth.
The sixth inning had a combined nine runs, with Washington scoring five times and the Lady Tigers adding four runs to their lead for what became the final 14-9 score and a five-run win for McClain.
Olivia Stegbauer had a four-hit game where she was 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBI, as two of her hits were extra-base hits with a double and a triple.
Amaya Ryan was 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, a double and a home run.
Leah Lovett also had a big game at 2-for-5 with a home run of her own, plus she scored one run and had three RBI.
Brylee Douglas went 2-for-2 with one run.
Brie Cummins finished the win at 1-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. Teammate Emma Posey was also 1-for-5 with one run and three RBI. Cami Gall ended the day at 1-for-4, while Kambriah Tomlin was 1-for-4 with a run. Kyndee Williams finished 1-for-3 with two runs and one walk. Dalainey Goddard was 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI, as her hit was a double.
Steals for McClain were made by Cummins (three), Posey, Tomlin and Lovett.
Williams was the winning pitcher as she pitched three innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Cummins pitched three innings with two strikeouts. Gall pitched one inning, with one strikeout and no runs.
Washington had three extra-base hits, including a double by Gracie Moore, a triple by Olivia Haycock and a home run from Hailey Lemaster.
The win sends McClain to a 2-3 record in the FAC and 3-6 overall record. Washington is now 0-5 in the FAC and 1-11 overall.
MHS was on the road on Tuesday, April 14 against Unioto at 5 p.m.
