Lynchburg-Clay falls to McClain, defeats Paint Valley in tri-doubleheader

Saturday saw the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs fall to the McClain Lady Tigers, but followed that with a win over the Paint Valley Lady Bearcats in their home tri-doubleheader.

In their first game of the day, LCHS lost to the visiting McClain Lady Tigers, 8-4 with MHS totaling 12 hits in the game. LCHS finished with eight hits.

For LCHS, Madison Baker was 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a steal. Morgan Baker drew a walk in the loss, and Noel Barnhill was 1-for-2 and was hit by a pitch.

Also for the Lady Mustangs, Avery Blankenship went 1-for-3, scoring two runs, collecting an RBI and had a walk. Caitlyn Collins drew three walks, and Kami Collins went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two steals.

Brya McClain went 2-for-2 with a run and two walks. LCHS also had Reese Ruble have two steals, and Miranda Smith finished with a run and three steals.

Morgan Baker had the loss in the circle, pitching one inning where she allowed four earned runs on four hits and a walk. She finished with a strikeout.

Noel Barnhill pitched six innings, as she ended the game with no hits allowed on four runs (three earned) and a walk. Barnhill collected eight strikeouts.

Individual hitting and pitching stats for the McClain Lady Tigers were not available.

In the second game, Lynchburg-Clay defeated Paint Valley, 13-3 in six innings.

LCHS had a strong first inning, leading 7-2 at the conclusion of the first. LCHS scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and outscored PVHS 5-1 in the sixth inning for the 10-run win.

Lynchburg-Clay ended the game with 10 hits and committed two errors, while PVHS totaled 114 hits and had one error.

Madison Baker, Caitlyn Collins, Kami Collins and Brya McClain each had two hits in the win. Madison Baker was 2-for-4 with two runs and a steal.

Caitlyn Collins went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, two RBI, a walk and five steals. Kami Collins ended the game with a 2-for-3 day at the plate, scoring two runs, one RBI and a steal. Brya McClain finished 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, a walk and four steals.

Morgan Baker finished 1-for-2 with a triple, one run, one RBI and a steal. Somara Donley had a walk, and Sarah McKinney went 1-for-3 with a double, two runs, a walk and three steals.

Reese Ruble scored a run and forced a walk, while Rylee Turner had three steals.

Sarah McKinney was the winning pitcher, tossing six innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on two walks and two strikeouts.

After the game from Saturday, the Lady Mustangs are 5-7 overall, 4-4 in the SHAC.
