Lady Lions clinch share of Div. 2 SHAC crown by defeating West Union; fall to Manchester and Southeastern

The Fairfield Lady Lions clinched no less than a share of the 2025 Southern Hills Athletic Conference Division II championship with a 13-1 win over the West Union Lady Dragons on Wednesday, May 14 at WUHS.
Fairfield scored three runs in the top of the second, followed by a two-run third inning, two runs in the fourth and six runs in the top of the fifth for their 13-run total. FHS finished the game with 11 hits and one error. West Union scored one run in the bottom of the fourth inning, as they totaled one hit in the game and had two errors.
Five FHS players had two hits in the win. Jobey Hattan finished with two hits at 2-for-4 with two runs, three RBI and a double. Ally Maynard ended their game at 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, a walk, one hit by pitch and a stolen base.
Avery Morrow went 2-for-3 with one run, and two RBI. Also finishing with two hits was Carly Sanders was 2-for-3 with a run, two RBI, a double and a walk. Jorgia Smith was 2-for-3 with a run, two RBI a walk and a steal.
The Lady Lions also had Kelsie Crowder go 1-for-1 with three runs, one RBI, a double, two walks and one hit by pitch. Rilee Quickle finished the day at 1-for-3 with one run, two RBI, a steal and she was hit by a pitch.
Alyssa Bales scored a run and had a SAC. Jorjia May scored a run, and Whitlee Morrow hit a sacrifice fly.
Quickle had the win with five innings pitched, allowing one earned run on four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts.

On Thursday, May 15 the Fairfield Lady Lions lost an away game to the Manchester Lady Greyhounds by a 9-8 score, making things a lot closer in the SHAC Division II standings, keeping the co-championship hopes alive for Manchester.
Manchester led 2-1 after the first inning, then held a 4-1 lead following two runs in the bottom of the second. Both teams scored three runs in the third, leaving the score 7-4 after three complete innings.
Manchester added a run in the bottom of the fourth, but FHS came back with another three-run inning in the top of the fifth for a 8-7 score. With FHS trailing by a run, Manchester scored their final run in the bottom of their sixth. Fairfield continued to battle, but came up a run short as they scored one last run in the top of the seventh inning for the 9-8 loss.
FHS totaled eight hits and committed two errors. Manchester totaled 13 hits and also committed two errors.
Quickle was charged with the loss in the circle, finishing with nine strikeouts.
Jobey Hattan at the plate hit two home runs for the Lady Lions, finishing 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI and a sacrifice fly.
Kelsie Crowder was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double. Also with two hits was Quickle at 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles and a walk.
Whitlee Morrow ended the day at 1-for-2 with a run and a walk. The Lady Lions had two runs scored by Ally Maynard, who was also hit by a pitch. Jorgia Smith walked once.

Friday (May 16), the Fairfield Lady Lions lost a close non-conference game against the visiting Southeastern Lady Panthers 2-1.
All runs were scored in the third inning, with SEHS scoring two runs in the top of the third, while Fairfield scored their lone run in the bottom of the inning.
Fairfield’s run was scored by Jobey Hattan, as she ended the day at 2-for-3 with a double.
Kelsie Crowder led the way for the Lady Lions at 3-for-3. Also with a hit was Rilee Quickle, going 1-for-3.
For the game, the Lady Lions totaled six hits and committed three errors. Southeastern totaled four hits and committed one error.
Also for the Lady Lions, Jorjia May had a stolen base.
Quickle in the loss pitched seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk with eight strikeouts.
