Fairfield takes down host Peebles

In what was their fifth consecutive road game this season, the Fairfield Lady Lions completed their road warrior travels with another Southern Hills Athletic Conference win, defeating the host Peebles Lady Indians 54-38 Thursday. 

In the Dec. 11 game at Peebles High School, the Lady Lions trailed by one point when the first-quarter buzzer sounded at 12-11. Fairfield had four points from Isabelle Hale in the frame, along with a 3-pointer by Rilee Quickle, two points from Vivian Henninger and two points off a basket by Meri Jackson. 

Fairfield gave themselves a bit of a cushion by building a 29-18 lead when halftime arrived, outscoring the Lady Indians 18-6. Henninger scored six points in the second, while Jackson also scored six points in the same frame, Brya Fauber scored four points off two baskets in the second, and Quickle scored two points. 

The third quarter saw Fairfield outscore Peebles 14-9, increasing their lead to 43-27. Fairfield’s third quarter included two points off free throws from Hale, six points by Henninger and six points by Jackson. 

The Lady Lions scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, and Peebles also scored 11 points in the frame. FHS had two points from Quickle, a 3-pointer by Jaeden Drury and six points off three baskets by Addison Cannon. 

For the game the Lady Lions were led by Henninger and Jackson with 14 points apiece. Henninger made five two-point baskets,, and she was 4-of-9 from the free-throw line. Jackson in her 14-point game had six two-point baskets, and she was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. 

Quickle ended the game with seven points with a 3-pointer and two two-point baskets. Hale totaled six points in the win with one 3-pointer and a 3-of-4 performance from the free-throw line. 

Cannon finished with six points for FHS with three baskets, while Fauber made two baskets for four points in the win. Drury ended the game with three points for the Lady Lions. 

The Lady Lions’ team totals included 18 two-point baskets, three 3-pointers, and they were 9-of-17 from the free-throw line. 

Peebles was led by Kendall Myers with 15 points, followed by Paysen Shively with nine points. Also with nine points was Alyssa Smalley. The rest of Peebles’ final scoring was Amryn Carroll (3) and Kyndal Alonzo (2).

Peebles’ final team totals were 12 two-point baskets, and they were 14-of-18 from the free-throw line. 
The win sends Fairfield to an overall record of 5-1 with a SHAC Division II record of 3-1. Peebles stands at 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the SHAC Division II standings.
