Fairfield defends home court with win over Whiteoak

LEESBURG — Thursday evening (Aug. 28) saw the Fairfield Lady Lions dominate on their home court of Grandle Gymnasium by defeating their Highland County counterpart and conference rival, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats in three straight sets.
In the Southern Hills Athletic conference match, the Lady Lions defeated Whiteoak by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-13, improving to 4-0 in Division II of the SHAC and 7-0 overall.
The loss sends Whiteoak to a SHAC mark of 0-3 with an overall record of 0-4.
“With every game, seven games in, we are improving every single time and it is going to be a long season with the team playing up-and-down depending on the night, but I’m really pleased with the progress so far,” Fairfield head coach Kamryn Daulton said. “I’m extremely happy from where we started, I’ve seen a lot of growth, especially being a young team, it is only up from here, from where we started in the summer to where they are performing now. It is really great.”
As a team the Lady Lions totaled 35 kills, 29 assists, 15 aces, 55 digs and two blocks.
The kills leader was Remi Moon with 15, and she also led Fairfield with four aces, and 19 digs. Moon also collected three assists.
Paisley Stalhut led Fairfield with 23 assists, while also finishing with four kills, one ace, and eight digs.
“Paisley Stalhut, our setter, she did an amazing job finding hits and making smart decisions on the court” Daulton said.
Jaeden Drury led FHS with two blocks, while also collecting nine kills and one assist.
Emma Ayers finished with one kill, and four digs, while teammate Alyssa Bales totaled two aces and 11 digs.
Addison Cannon finished with one kill, and one dig. The Lady Lions also had Kinsey Drury finish with two aces and six digs. Kaitlyn Eldenier ended the match for Fairfield with three kills and one dig.
The Lady Lions also had Bailey James have one ace, while Jorja May finished with two kills, two aces, and four digs. Alya Parker collected two aces in the Fairfield win.
“Alya Parker, a freshman, came in tonight and did a phenomenal job with some of our hitting and serving,” Daulton said.
Next for Whiteoak is a game on Wednesday, Sept. 10 on the road vs. Peebles with a JV start of 5 p.m.
Fairfield is scheduled to play again on Wednesday, Sept. 10 in SHAC play against the Manchester Lady Greyhounds with JV starting at 5:30 p.m.
“I’m looking forward to the break, and I know it is going to be a challenge getting the girls ready to come back to play, but we’ll be ready,” Daulton said of the extended break due to the Highland County Fair this week.
