'A good night for a family that needed one'

On Feb. 15, Jimmy Phelps, manager of the Papa John’s in Hillsboro, Tami Takes the Cake Cookies and Christian illusionist Jake Lindsey came together to raise funds for a family in need.
Jesse Edwards and his family recently lost their little Brittany, and the community came together to show their support.
Papa John’s donated 20 percent of the day’s sales. Tami Takes the Cake donated cookies, and Lindsey donated two shows and all tips to the family for help with expenses.
Edwards and his family were in attendance for the shows at the restaurant and the outpouring of support for their family was “very overwhelming.”
Lindsey had two shows that were filled with magic, comedy and laughter while in the background Phelps had his crew humming along at a rapid pace producing Italian delights.
Brittany was a student at Hillsboro, and by all accounts she “always lit up the room and people instantly loved her.”
Her father was quoted as stating that “She was too good for this world, and God called her home.”
After the last show, Mr. Edwards once again expressed his gratitude for the kindness and support that the community has given his family. As the Papa John’s aromas continued into the evening, Brittany’s father walked away calmly, nodded his head, looked up and smiled.
It was a good night for a family that needed one.
