The big top will be raised at The Bainbridge Community Center at 113 Dewey St, Bainbridge, with showtimes at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Circus Grimaldi offers a traditional circus experience that the entire family can enjoy. Experience the thrill of jugglers, the wonder of magic, the laughter of funny clowns, the awe-inspiring feats of aerialists and acrobats, all accompanied by live music.
Circus Grimaldi will perform under the big top, just as a circus should be experienced. As an added treat, don't miss the Stinson Fairground Band Organ on the circus grounds. This historic band organ, originally built for the Royal Lichtenstein Circus, is the last continuously touring fairground band organ in the United States.
The circus holds a special place in Bainbridge's history as the hometown of legendary circus mogul, Clyde Beatty. Born in Bainbridge in 1903, Beatty became a world-renowned wild animal trainer, captivating audiences with his daring acts featuring lions and tigers. His extraordinary career included performing with renowned circuses like the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus and the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, as well as starring in films and his own radio program.
Fans of the circus can also visit the Circus Ohio Museum, located at 107 E Main St, Bainbridge. The museum pays tribute to the life of Clyde Beatty and other Ohio circus greats. Visitors can explore a vast collection of artifacts, including posters, costumes, and even a model circus. The museum is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. As a special treat for circusgoers, the museum will have extended hours on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 3-7 p.m. Admission to the museum is free.
Circus Grimaldi carries on the legacy of renowned clown Joseph Grimaldi, who revolutionized clowning in the early 1800s. His influence continues to inspire clowns today.
