Ruth E. Chain, 84, of Leesburg, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born March 19, 1939 in Xenia, the daughter of the late Archie Franklin and Martha (Davis) Shadley.

Ruth retired from Ferno Washington after 30 years of service and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by three children, Kim (Patty) Ross, George (Kayla) Beatty and Rhonda (Richard) Smith, all of Leesburg; 13 grandchildren, Misty (Bob Hampton) Cox, Tesla (Tre) Howard, Dylan (Kristin) Smith, Shelby (Justin) Burns, Jennifer (Brandon) Moore, Chelsea Beatty, Brendan (Brettany) Newberry, Christian (Ashley) Beatty, Cora (Austin) Wright, Kacey Sanderson, Gabe Tompkins, Micah Beatty and Noah Beatty; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Fred Shadley of Washington Court House; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Trey Ross and Heather Berry; and two sisters, Mary Groves, and Evelyn Shephard.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the Turner Funeral Home in Leesburg. Pastor Ken Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
