Ronald Jay Conley
Ronald Jay Conley, 77, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born Sept. 14, 1946, in Stockdale, the son of Amos and Goldie (Justice) Conley.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He was previously employed by longtime farmer and friend Bryon Dawson and Frank Irvin. He was a member of the VFW Post 4736, of which he was the commander for 25 years. He was also a member of F.O.E. #1325, American Legion Post 14 and Amvets Post 61.
He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Matracia (Chuck Bender) of Greenfield and Stacy Conley of Dayton; seven grandchildren, Jayne (Kyle) Stanforth, Zachary (Kendall) Matracia, CJ (Felisha) Bender, Austin Bender, Morgan (Collin) Haddox, Shawn (Ashley) Haddox and Katie Conley; seven great-grandchildren, Karrigan Caton, Hunter Matracia, Aiden Bender, Aubree Haddox, Charlie Bender, Jase Haddox and Mila Matracia; three sisters, Louise Shield of Arizona, Donna Cassell of Jeffersonville and Doris Aills of Florida; and special friend, Phillip Caton of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Conley, on Nov. 18, 2020 after 52 years of marriage; 12 siblings, Anna Hazel Justice, Eleanor Leib, Imogene McCormick, Eddie Ray Conley, Lonnie Conley, Nelson Veach, Ed Veach, George Veach, Richard Veach, Irene Gifford, Amos Conley and Joe Bob Conley; and both parents.
Funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at the South Salem Cemetery, where military rites will be provided by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 5 at 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
